We travel towards florence, capital of tuscany, cradle of the italian renaissance. we will go towards the lookout of miquel angelo with an impressive view of all the city. at the afternoon with our guide, we will stroll through the historical centre of this city, a truthful open-air museum having really important landmarks and museums of an overwhelming beauty.
We will leave florence early for northern italy through the apennines. arrival in venice – by boat we will access the area of st. mark´s square to travel and let ourselves be lost in the city of canals. you can also admire murano´s glasswork. are you encouraged to take a gondola ride? accommodation in or around the mestre area.
We will go to padova, meeting point for many pilgrims, where we will visit the saint’s basilica. later we will travel to the adriatic coast where we will visit san marino, a small independent country on the top of a fortified mountain. time for lunch. we will continue our route between beautiful mountain landscapes crossing the apennines to gubbio, a wonderfully preserved small town where stands out the palace of the consuls and the 12th century cathedral. we will continue to the capital of the umbria region, perugia.
perugia is a city surrounded by walls, with a delicious medieval historic center. it is also known for being the city of chocolate. we will know the city with our tour guide, going up the mobile ramps that cross the rocky hill and we will be surprised by visiting its squares and cobbled stone streets . afterwards we will go to asis for lunch, in the apennines montains, the birthplace of the franciscan order, a destination for pilgrims and a world heritage site as an example of the historical continuity of a sanctuary city. we will visit the basilica and walk through its cobbled streets. continuation to naples, arrival at the end of the day. you will be able to taste its typical world-famous gastronomy.
early in the morning we will walk through the napolitan neighborhoods discovering their color, joy, and a bit of their chaos ... we will walk through the historic center full of history, the san carlo theater, the plebiscito square, the royal palace and the famous umbertine galleries, with their elegant shops and historic cafes. later we will board (boat ticket included) to the island of capri; if you wish, you will be able to take the boat to the white grotto or the funicular to capri capital. after lunch time we will board again and continue to sorrento, a town full of charm and tourist life at the foot of the cliff. time to walk. we continue to the gulf of salerno. accommodation in salerno.
We go towards pompei, where you will be able to admire the remaining of this roman city that was clobbered by ashes from vesuvius (ticket included). after time for lunch we will continue towards cassino, you will be able to know the huge abbey, here took place one of the hardest battles from the second world war. during our homeward, in a beautiful area of lakes we will know castelgandolfo, little village belonging to vatican, where is to be found the summer residence of the pope. we will continue towards rome. arriving at the end of the afternoon.
