Introduction

This tour is part of our flexible coach touring range, guaranteed with a minimum of 2 people. Once the tour is booked, it is guaranteed so it will definitely go ahead, and will never cancel.

This tour is guided in English only. Please note if English speaking attendance numbers are low, the tour can become bilingual either accompanied by two tour leaders, one for each language, or a single tour leader providing explanations in both languages.

The tour offers flexibility, allowing you to customize it to your preferences. Scenery: mountains crossing the Pyrenees. Mediterranean in the south of France.
08:30 hrs. - Barcelona, departure. We travel to the north of Catalonia.
10:00 hrs. - Gerona , time for a walk in this city with a magnificent historic center dominated by medieval buildings and Roman, Arab and Hebrew reminiscences. We suggest visiting the Cathedral of Santa María, an impressive Gothic structure in the upper part of the city, and the old Jewish quarter with its narrow and picturesque streets.
12:00 hrs. - Girona, departure.
12:45 hrs. – Besalú - arrival in this small medieval city whose excellent state of perfectly preserved narrow streets, impressive fortified stone bridge, castle, Jewish baths and old pilgrim hospital will transport us to that time. Time for a walk and lunch.
14:15 hrs. - Besalú, departure. Crossing the border, we enter French Catalonia, Roussillon.
16:00 hrs. - Colliure . We make a stop in a small coastal town full of charm, its beach, its port, its alleys and its impressive castle built on an ancient Roman castrum that housed the court of the kings of Mallorca. If you’d like to, you could see the tomb of the poet Antonio Machado.
18:00 hrs. – Colliure - departure, we continue to move inland, leaving the coast.
20:00 hrs. - Carcassonne . Arrival in this city, located on a promontory and considered the best walled city in Europe. We suggest going to see the walls illuminated at night and having a dinner in one of the hundreds of small restaurants in “la cité”.
Total distance covered: 187 km.
Scenery: Pyrenees mountain range. Snow-covered high peaks through a large part of the year.
Morning in Carcassonne.With our guide we will go to its impressive county castle (entrance included) and its medieval walls. Later you will have free time for a walk and lunch.
14.00 hrs - Carcassonne –Departure. We continue towards the Pyrenees mountain range.
15:30hrs – Foix – Brief stop to stroll through the medieval city dominated by its impressive castle of the Counts of Foix.
16.30 hrs – Foix –Departure. We continue towards the high mountains of the Pyrenees, with many of their peaks covered in snow all year round. We continue to Andorra, a small independent country in the Pyrenees between Spain and France, whose official language is Catalan. On our route we will make a short stop next to Sant Joan de Caselles , a small Romanesque church from the 12th century.
19.00 hrs – Andorra la Vella – arrival in the capital of the principality of Andorra. Free time to explore the city with a lot of commercial life or to go to “Caldea”, the largest thermal spa in Europe. Dinner included.
Total distance: 225 km.

Scenery: Pretty mountain scenery. Huge scenery around the monastery of Montserrat.
WARNING: Have your passport to hand, as there are sometimes border checks.
Free time in the morning in Andorra. You can visit this modern city amidst the mountains or go shopping in its large shopping centres with low taxes. - Time for lunch.
14.00 hrs - Andorra –Departure-. Entry in Catalonia. We go to the beautiful area where the Benedictine Abbey stands.
16:15 hrs - Arrival at the foot of Montserrat Mountain. We get to the monastery on a rack train (tickets included) , impressive views on the way up.
16:45 hrs - Monastery of Montserrat –Arrival-. Time to admire the views and visit the sanctuary of the Virgin of Montserrat, patron saint of Catalonia
18:30 hrs - Montserrat –Departure- (by bus).
19.30 hrs - Barcelona –Arrival-. Accommodation.
After breakfast, end of our services.
Note: Remember that hotels check-out time is usually at 10.00 hrs. In most cases, you can leave your luggage at the hotel reception at check-out time, so you can enjoy the city and pick it up at the time you require that same day. If you need more time to use your room, please consider booking an additional night at the end of your tour.
